Idaho Jury Convicts Doomsday Author in Deaths of Wife and Stepchildren

In a stunning verdict, Chad Daybell has been found guilty of first-degree murder in the deaths of his first wife, Tammy Daybell, and his adopted stepchildren, Joshua "JJ" Vallow and Tylee Ryan. The Idaho jury reached the unanimous verdict after nearly two months of trial.
Prosecutors alleged that Daybell, a self-proclaimed doomsday author, orchestrated the killings as part of a plot to inherit his wife's life insurance policy and marry his lover, Lori Vallow, whose children were JJ and Tylee Ryan. Daybell and Lori Vallow, who is charged separately in the killings, believed they were part of a religious group that required them to remove "dark spirits" from their family.
