USWNT Crushes Colombia 3-0 in Concacaf W Gold Cup Knockout Stage Opener
Convincing Victory for Team USA
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (March 3, 2024) - The US Women's National Team kicked off the knockout stage of the 2024 Concacaf W Gold Cup with a convincing 3-0 victory over Colombia at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.
Dominant Performance from Team USA
After a disappointing loss to Mexico in their previous Gold Cup match, the USWNT bounced back in style. They controlled the game from the opening whistle, creating numerous chances and dominating possession.
The United States scored all three goals in the first half, with Christen Press opening the scoring in the 20th minute. Lindsey Horan doubled the lead just 10 minutes later, and Alex Morgan capped off the scoring in the 45th minute.
Colombia struggled to create chances against a solid US defense, and the American goalkeeper, Alyssa Naeher, was rarely tested.
The USWNT will now face the winner of the Costa Rica vs. Panama match in the semifinals on March 7.
